When I started middle school, I remember finding out that there was an elective art class. I had never had an art class before so I was very excited. All we did the first year was still life though. I was not a fan. It was about getting technically good at understanding and capturing light, but to me it felt like coloring within the lines. It's ironic that, two decades later, the collection I am most known for is technically still life. It's also ironic that I have worked on five still life projects after that. Re-exploring still life through digital tools, AI, and code has completely changed my relationship with it. I have found the dynamism I was missing as a younger artist. Techno Morte is a new phase of my still life exploration. It’s abstract, chaotic, and hopefully, a fun take on coloring within the lines.
