The villages represent very important snapshots of my family's life. I envisioned a fantasy that would sustain family at every level, where community steps in to support one another.
The different color palettes reference different cities I've visited.
Gradients create the illusion of dimension, and light hitting the village at different times of day.

Villages is a collection of three works inspired by an idea of a utopian community the artist imagined to provide support for her family. Originally created as a triptych, each of the three pieces represents a different facet of the community—academic, practical and spiritual. She envisioned a fantasy that would sustain family at every level, where community steps in to support one another. The different color palettes reference different cities the artist has visited and capture different moods throughout the day. Using gradients to play with light hitting different surfaces, the structures come to life with an illusion of dimension.
